Meet Hala
OFA celebrates individuality and community through unique jewelry and exceptional craftsmanship. Because luxury is a feeling no longer defined by expense or exclusivity, but by self-expression and empowerment, Hala, the designer and founder of OFA, imagines pieces that uplift and celebrate.
Ever since she was little, Hala was painting, drawing, and crafting. ‘The only thing that has always been certain,’ she says, ‘is that I love to create, and I knew from a very young age that art was my service in life.’
Shortly after graduating from Los Angeles College of Architecture & Design in 2015, Hala's creativity and flair for fashion led her to collaborate with some of the most prestigious brands and creatives around the world.
‘OFA happened naturally. I was struggling to find jewelry I genuinely loved. What was available did not really resonate with me: it was either plain and overpriced and so I decided to make jewelry for myself.’
-Hala
Hala started by visiting gold markets in Dubai, where she lives, to source findings and stones.
‘At the time, I did not know anyone in the jewelry industry, and I was making my own pieces by asking for favors in little gold shops. Looking back, it made my jewelry unique and connected OFA to my local community of jewelers which is something I am immensely proud of’.

Encouraged by the number of questions and enquiries about the jewelry she was wearing, Hala decided to start OFA in 2020.
‘It was not something I imagined. As someone who does not come from a business background, I had to figure things out and I made some mistakes, but I learnt along the way. My background in Architecture is helpful, and even though jewelry design is different, it is also a lot more creative and gives me so much satisfaction. There is something extraordinary about imagining a piece, drawing a first sketch, watching it take shape and then, seeing it worn by our customers.’
Drawing inspiration from her heritage, her love for fashion, travels and her fascination for nature, Hala feels especially connected to gemstones. ‘I can stare at them for hours, knowing that they were made from nature’s own power and energy, forming slowly to reveal its beauty. It is incredible and humbling.’
For the future of OFA, Hala would love the brand to expand its community to become a platform of sharing, where everyone would feel welcome and empowered.
“I think any jewelry can be beautiful, but when it speaks for you, and reminds you of meanings that are close to you, that’s when it becomes truly unique and special.'
